Ray was born and raised in Lake County Florida.  He is also a proud Florida Gator (Go Gators) and moved to Maine as fast as he could get here.

Ray and his wife of 32 years, Dee Dee Grizzard Richardson have spent their entire married life in Maine, raising their four children, Tripp, Conner, Lela and Lizzi, who are all now grown and also live in Maine.

Ray is the author of three books, It Might Just Be Me, but I don’t think so; Rebuilding Maine’s Future and Every Stone Has A Story.  He also authored a newspaper column for 14 years in several daily and weekly publications.

Ray is a former small business owner for over 20 years before he began his broadcasting career.  He is a former President of the Chamber of Commerce and was one of several people who started Mission Possible (now My Place Teen Center) a local organization that help provide children with a safe place to be themselves.

Since November of 2004, Ray has hosted the morning show on News/Talk WLOB.  He talks about the news of the day and brings his unique opinion to each topic.  He often spars with his on-air producer Debi Davis as she tries to bring him back from the edge of the abyss.

Several times each week, FOX News Radio reporters like White House correspondent Jon Decker, Capitol Hill reporter Rachel Sutherland, from the FOX News Bureau in New York City with Tonya J. Powers and from the European Bureau of FOX News Radio in London with Simon Owen check in regarding the most important issues of the day.

Ray covers state, national and international news stories as they are un-folding, more often than not with the newsmaker themselves.

Regular guests include: Former House Republican Leader Joe Bruno, Real estate mogul & chairman of Making Maine Great Again PAC David Jones, Maine Republican Party Chairwoman Demi Kouzounas, author Bob Witkowski, city of Portland Event Manager Peter McFarland, city of Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling, state director of the AARP Lori Parham, Senator Bill Diamond, NBC Anchor Pat Callaghan, HR guru David Ciullo & former Johnson administration official Harold Pachios.
