In an effort to help with the Opiate problem, a bill introduced by Rep. Sara Gideon are still required to have a prescription. Rep. Karen Vachon submitted an the amendment two months ago. The Maine Board of Pharmacy is now tasked with writing the rules for the amended law, which also adds required training for pharmacists and customers. LePage, who also unsuccessfully vetoed the original bill, has said that Narcan “does not truly save lives, it merely extends them until the next overdose.”
