Ray calls foul!!!! In today’s Portland Press Herald’s Opinion section, the headline: Our View: Inaction on naloxone is letting people die. The opioid overdose antidote should be made available to anyone who might be able to use it. The Maine Board of Pharmacy on Aug. 3 approved rules allowing pharmacists to dispense naloxone, often sold under the name brand Narcan, without a prescription. The rules, the result of a law passed over LePage’s objections, would put the drug in more hands, making it more likely that it is present when someone overdoses, and that they can be revived. Joe Bruno, Chair for the Board of Pharmacies of Maine and owns Community Pharmacy, told us last Friday the truth.
