The opioid overdose antidote should be made available to anyone who might be able to use it. The Maine Board of Pharmacy on Aug. 3 approved rules allowing pharmacists to dispense naloxone, often sold under the name brand Narcan, without a prescription. The rules, the result of a law passed over LePage’s objections, would put the drug in more hands, making it more likely that it is present when someone overdoses, and that they can be revived.
