Part 1: Ray is joined in studio by Former Portland Deputy Chief Joe Loughlin. He was here a couple of weeks ago with his delicious Loughlin’s Irish Steak Sauce. Joe has written another book. Shots Fired: The Misunderstandings, Misconceptions, and Myths about Police Shootings is a journey “behind the shield” which highlights the experiences of the real human beings in the line of fire.
Part 2: Joe and Ray talk about his first book that Joe and Kate collaborated on before: Finding Amy: A True Story of Murder in Maine and his co-author, Kate Clark Flora.
Part 3: Ray and Joe talk about how society has de-humanized police. Departments all over the country are down in personnel. They talk about “bad cops” and how much damage they can do to a department and how much the departments have changed since he started to now.
