Ray and Joe welcome Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals. Meris Bickford, CEO, and Kathy Woodbrey, treasurer, are in from the farm to share with everyone what they do there. They will continue the work of the Maine Equine Welfare Alliance to provide temporary, emergency food assistance for the horses of Maine. Thanks to a generous grant from the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), the MSSPA offers short-term food assistance, which can provide a safety net, allowing a horse to remain in a loving, healthy home. They talk about their fundraisers and events coming up. Their Buy-A-Bale program is a year-round fundraiser.
