12-05-18 AARP Maine
Part 1: At this time of year the AARP Maine wants to make sure people are aware of some of the scams going on during the holidays. Jane Margesson brings in Chief Kevin Schofield of the Windham Police to remind and inform our listeners of some of the scams that are happening and how they are targeting people. They urge people to check with Charity Navigator or call the police if you have any questions or concerns about an organization. There is no need to be embarrassed if you do get caught in the web of a scammer. Jane mentions that you can do a credit freeze to safeguard a person’s credit report and it is the most effective way to protect consumers from identity theft. The Chief and AARP Maine will be holding a 2 part Free Webinar on Avoiding Seasonal Fraud on Dec 11, 2018 at 7 p.m. and Part 2 on Dec 13, 2018 at 7 p.m.
