05-23-19 Thursday’s Political “C” Day
Part 1: Ray starts with Debi’s Pretty in Pink and Dee Dee’s wild hair. Then he talks about Trump’s style. The Democrats don’t know what to do…Ray talks about the “Political C’s”…Collusion…Change…Corruption…Cover-Up…speaking of…Maine House Speaker comes to mind as he is talking about one voice…one vote.
Part 2: Ray reminds people about the Honor Flight Remote at Rowe Ford Westbrook. May is Military Month…Ray pleads with people to call (207-775-2217) into the Big JAB morning show today and tell Peter McFarland that they miss hearing him on WLOB. Washington state became the first to legalize human composting after its eco-friendly governor signed a bill to that effect in a bid to cut carbon emissions from burials and cremations.
Part 3: Ray talks about an interaction between Rep. Omar and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary, Ben Carson. “Since you brought it up… I know what it’s like to actually be sleepy, especially after 18-hour surgeries and operating on babies in the womb,” he wrote. While he was at it, Carson also took a shot at Omar’s position on abortion. “I hope @IlhanMN knows I care about all people, even those she doesn’t recognize as having a right to life.”
Part 4: Ray speaks to Maine State Rep. Beth O’Connor. She joins him to discuss Rep. Brownie Carson’s bill (LD 640 “Resolve, To Require a Study of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions from the Proposed Central Maine Power Company Transmission Corridor”) and how it isn’t fair to change the rules of the game in the middle of the game. This bill is designed to only affect this one project.
Part 5: Ray goes back and expands on the exchange between Carson and Omar. He points out some more of Rep. Omar’s double standard over the southern border position.
Part 6: Ray welcomes Jonathan David Leibowitz is an American lawyer who served as the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. He is currently co-chairman of the 21st Century Privacy Coalition, a group that aims to loosen regulations for how companies have to protect consumer’s sensitive information. He is concerned about Maine’s Sen. Bellows proposed LD 946 “An Act To Protect the Privacy of Online Customer Information”. He and Ray discuss the how much good this bill will do….nothing.
Part 7: Ray goes back to his words with C’s to describe Democrats…coordination. Then pokes fun of San Francisco a poem that he made up…
Part 8: Ray talks about how important it is to help others achieve their dreams if you are capable of doing so. God gave everyone a talent and we should be lifting people up…not tearing them down. Then he goes to Augusta and talks a little history. He explains the phrase “As Maine Goes, so does the country.” He talks about the actions of Speaker Gideon and her bill on Maine’s elections. One Man…One Vote!!!
Part 9: Ray talks about John Philip Walker Lindh, a U.S. citizen who was captured as an enemy combatant during the United States’ invasion of Afghanistan in November 2001. He was released from jail this morning on an early release. Ray doesn’t understand why he seems to be the only one upset. Everyone else seems to be silent.
Part 10: Ray welcomes News Center Maine’s Pat Callaghan. Ray reminds people about the Honor Flight Remote at Rowe Ford Westbrook. and mentions the support that News Center Maine has given to them over the years. They talk about the WWII Tuskegee pilots and Ray says that Lt. Col. Harry Stewart will be joining us next week. Pat corrects Ray’s history on the “As Maine Goes” Then the boys continue with the history lessons.
Part 11: Claude Berube joins Ray to discuss more history.
