05-29-19 It’s A Wet Wednesday
Part 1: Ray and Debi discuss Former President Obama and how he weaponized the FBI and the Attorney General’s office. This is brought on by an editorial by disgraced former FBI Director James Comey. Ray talks about how this is just a self-serving piece about why he did what he did. They end with the Governor Janet Mills announcement that she has nominated former Maine Senate Majority Leader and Chair of the Legislature’s Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, Phil Bartlett, to serve as Chair of the Maine Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
Part 2: Ray, Dee Dee and Debi talk about Maine’s LD 1313 “An Act To Enact the Maine Death with Dignity Act”. Ray talks about the difference between Florida and Maine. Maine citizens didn’t know what the Democrats had up their sleeve if they got into office.
Part 3: Ray, Dee Dee and Debi discuss Garrett Mason’s prediction on the proposed budget. Ray talks about the Governor’s promise to be fiscally responsible. Ray explains how the Republicans attacked Gov. LePage’s budget according to Garrett, but the Dems are doing just the opposite. He wants to know how they plan to pay for the extraordinary things they want to get passed.
Part 4: Ray reminds the audience of Honor Flight Maine and the great service that they provide to honor our veterans. He goes back to the promise he made in the 1st segment to get into political history of Phil Bartlett and the Governor’s appointment of him to the PUC. He also talks about the people that have been given jobs based on reward/longevity to the party instead of ability/resume. Ray wants to know what is will be the catalyst to get people involved and upset. He lists several different ideas and shows the progression of them.
Part 5: Ray reads a story from the Portland Press Herald about Background Checks for buying a gun. The “Red Flag Bill” brings out some of his concerns about the rights of the individual, but also doesn’t want anyone to hurt someone or themselves. Nobody should be able to willy-nilly take your gun and the right to protect yourself.
Part 6: Ray goes back to the “Red Flag Bill” and the right of the citizen and the bills that are going before Maine’s Legislature. He brings up the fact that there are guns protecting our money at banks, but not at our schools to protect our children. Ray compares the laws between Florida and Maine regarding guns in schools.
Part 7: Ray talks about the bump song from the previous segment and the adversity that the performer, Kodi Lee has overcome. We need more people that will rise up and not be held down. Here is a link to the video that he describes during this segment.
Part 8: Ray talks the government’s want to control your business. They are trying to kill all of the businesses in Maine by a thousand little cuts instead of just one swipe to the jugular. They want to put back into place a lot of the things that were killed businesses back in the late 1980’s. Ray says that Government’s goal is to run your business the way they want, not to let you run it the way you think it should be run. They know better than you do.
Part 9: Ray is riled up and prompts his audience to ask people about the history of Maine’s businesses. Ask someone that had a business in the ’80’s and what happened and not to just take his word for it.
Part 10: Ray and Dee Dee discuss the ban coming out of South Portland. Their City Council about the banning of cigarettes to people under the age of 21. Ray talks about leadership in our elected people. They want to get rid of tobacco, but don’t have the willingness to give money that is behind tobacco. There are a lot of tax money brought in and lobby money that will support some of the other bad ideas they have.
Part 11: Ray addresses several emails and text messages that he has received. One is about the South Portland Library hosting a children story time with host Chartreuse, a local Drag Queen from Portland, and about his support for Sen. Susan Collins. He says that we need to plan ahead and not put Sarah Gideon in Maine’s Senator seat. He doesn’t agree with every vote from Sen. Collins, but she is our best chance of getting the Superior Court Judge appointments that we need.
