Part 1: Ray Richardson is extremely frustrated. He talks about the Governor of Maine Janet Mills and her “plan” to re-open the state. Ray is more than angry. The numbers of the Covid-19 in Maine do not merit this stringent regulations. She has basically killed our economy. Ray uses the bar industry as an example. As of now, the Governor is choosing the winners and losers in the business world. Unfortunately, in this scenario, there won’t be a winner after everyone has lost their job. Ray talks about Dr. Shah and his resume. He won’t give where the cases/deaths are and have been located other than by county. Ray brings up the suicide rate in Maine. We already have an issue, this is only going to get worse. More people will be lost because she has quarantined healthy people. This is nothing but a dictator ruling over her minions.
Part 2: Ray gives a preview of today’s show. He says that he will be having several business owners that have everything on the line telling their story. Ray describes the behavior of the Governor as she was telling many Mainers that their livelihood and homes will lost because of her “plan” that she hasn’t even been able to release.
Part 3: Ray and David Jones take a call from Vinnie of Profenno’s in Westbrook. Vinny tells Ray that there is another Veteran that is in crisis. They talk about the business owners that are treading water, trying to keep their heads above water and the Governor’s new “plan”.
Part 4: Ray and David welcome State Senate Minority Leader Jeff Timberlake by phone. He also owns Ricker Hill Farms in Turner. He says that Governor has made all of these decisions on her own. The Republican leadership has not been consulted other than they can give suggestions by a suggestion portal. They talk about the Maine Legislature and how have been left in the dark. The boys talk about Maine’s Speaker of the House Sara Gideon and her lies about what she has done for Maine. Jeff says that there isn’t any recall for the Governor in Maine and that their hands are tied until they can go back into session.
Part 5: Ray and David Jones join in a merged telecast with WLOB’s sister station, the Big Jab. David Schumacher (Shu) asks Ray about his thoughts about the impact this draconian plan that Maine is now under is going to have on the average person. Ray simply says that the Governor told the small business owners that she doesn’t care about them and to drop dead. The Governor seems to think that Mainers can’t take care of themselves. Mainers know how to take care of themselves and know what personal distancing looks like and continue to do what is necessary to protect themselves.
Part 6: Ray and David continue to discuss the different states that have small towns that give town by town numbers of infected/hospitalized or deaths. Ray says the real reason they don’t want to give you the numbers has nothing to do with privacy, it is because they don’t want you to revolt because the numbers don’t welcome Curtis Picard of Retail Association of Maine. The boys talk about the essential vs non-essential businesses. They talk about how it is in the retailer’s blood to be able to adapt to different patterns quickly. Ray and Curtis talk about the different phases and timelines. Ray says that even though the Gov. gave her different phases, they are so vague and don’t have an actual plan. Curtis points out that most of these businesses don’t have a large margin if anything they’re really small. The trickle down effect that this new directive will have will effect Maine’s economy more than Janet Mills has thought about. Ray asks him about his members and what he is hearing. Ray talks about how this extended plan has put a nail in the coffin of small businesses and there is no plan help them from the State of Maine that has closed their business.
Part 6: Ray is really wound up. David asks him to tell you how he really feels. They talk about the different parts of Maine and the economic and populus between the two parts of Maine. Ray talks about the people that have passed away and the facts that are skewed because they were all from the same Veterans’ Home, all were already susceptible to illness. They don’t follow science when it is about babies in the womb or while making the draconian measures that will ruin our state. Miranda Brannigan of Resurf Face is on the line and she has had the same business for 17 years. She put herself through college and started a business as a single mom. The Governor has basically said that her business is not important. She’s is going to lose her home, car and business because she cannot open her business as a licensed aesthetics, yet a cosmetologist that does the same thing , can open. Miranda explains that if she does open even after having a licence and having continuing education every year she will lose her licensed. Janet Mills has chosen the winners and losers and told Miranda and other people like her don’t matter and her business to drop dead. Ray asks her what the town of Brunswick has done for her. She says nothing, she said that they closed her before the Governor did. David makes the point that this is what happens when you elect someone to run the state with no business experience.
Part 7: Ray welcomes AARP Maine‘s State Director Lori Parham to talk about Covid-19, unemployment and all of the other things that are affecting AARP Maine‘s members. They talk about where members can find out information about long term care facilities. Lori talks about members and the stimulus checks. Ray asks about members that are still working and how the Governors extended Stay at home order will affect them. Ray says that people don’t have to go back to work because of the Care Act and that should be a personal choice, not a mandated event.
Part 8: Ray thanks everyone for all of the text messages that he has been receiving. Ray reads an email/text with the practices of Miranda. Ray says that there are so many people praying for her and her business. Ray says that Bob, another small business owner will be on tomorrow’s show. Ray talks about Dr. Shah’s past job history and that he has lead Governor Mills into a leadership of fear. Ray reiterates the numbers of cases of Covid-19 and where they originated. He stresses that this is an important aspect and yet it is being overlooked. This leads to even more frustration about Governor Mills’ plan and that she hasn’t deemed it necessary that Mainers even need to know what it is until a later date. She has put in the most draconian [(of laws or their application) excessively harsh and severe.] measure. Ray says that she has basically told the small businesses in Maine to Drop Dead!
