Segment 1: Ray Richardson opens with the Star Spangled Banner and talks about the meaning of this weekend and shared an outline of today’s show. He shared a story from his book, “Every Stone Has A Story“.
Segment 2: Ray reads another story from his book and talks about Ensign Stanley Willis Allen, the gentleman whose DNA was finally revealed from World War II, and will be coming home on July 18th and laid to rest in the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta at 1 pm.
Segment 3: Gunny Mike joins Ray and they discuss some of the fallen and Gunny gives some of the statistics of the different wars and conflicts over the years.
Segment 4:
Segment 5: Ray plays a recording of Master Sergeant Charles Shay sharing his story of service at Normandy Beach. Mike Shepherd (Political Editor for the Bangor Daily News) joins Ray and they discuss some of the bills including a couple of the abortion and Family Leave Bills and whether it will be a referendum or not. Ray shares Peter Thomas’ story of combat at Normandy.
Segment 6:
Segments 7-8: Ray welcomes Mike Mercer (F3 Defense) who shares his personal medical journey with pancreatic cancer. What his symptoms are, and the journey that he will be taking over the upcoming months.
Segment 9: Mike and Ray are joined by Cumberland County Sheriff Kevin Joyce (https://www.cumberlandso.org), Mike, Molly Lovell-Keely (Communications and Marketing Manager of the Travis Mills Foundation), Gracie Burgess, Brian Keely (Director of Food and Nutrition at the Scarborough Veterans Home) they all share stories.
Segment 10:
Segment 11: Molly shares some of the events happening with the Travis Mills Foundation including the Miles for Mills Memorial Day 5K, stories of recovery from an amputee, Al Lapin, and the Health and Wellness Center, the Warrior Pathh Program at TMF located in Belfast.
Segment 12: Ray plays another clip of a fallen soldier’s story. Gracie shares what Memorial Day means to her, Brian shares his experience of working with vets during this week over the years.
Segment 13: Ray asks Molly about the Miles for Mills Memorial Day 5K, which will be at the Brunswick Base, he thanks Gracie for her dad’s service and they talk about some of the TMF in Florida and her podcast Grace Of A Military Child Podcast, her future plans, and more.
Segment 14: Mike and Ray are joined by Ben Smith (Junction Bowl/The Sidecar, and coming soon 6/1 Red City Ale House) and Kenny Cianchette (Erik’s Church in Windham) the tease Ben about the stress of opening this week, Kenny says that the Band American Ride will be @ Erik’s tonight. They talk about the area surrounding the Red City Ale House.
Segment 15: Ray has a full house, Kenny, Mike, and Ben are joined by some of Ben’s family Amy and Sophia Pompeo. Sophia talks about her experience and her plans now that she’s graduated from Providence.
Segment 16: The boys close out the show.
