Segment 1: Ray Richardson talks about the brave men that faced the suicide mission of taking Normandy Beach known as D-Day (The Day That Will Live In Infamy) including Charles Norman Shay (a Penobscot tribal elder, writer, and decorated veteran of both World War II and the Korean War.
Segment 2: Ray plays a little bit of a History Channel documentary about D-Day which gives an accurate description of what it was like for a soldier approaching Normandy. President Eisenhower’s radio address and prayer for our success.
Segment 3: David Jones joins Ray and Dee Dee. He and Ray question why two members of the U.S. House Oversight Committee reviewed a credible unclassified FBI document relating to a whistleblower’s bribery allegations against President Joe Biden from when he was serving as vice president.
Segment 4: Sophia Pride and John Lewis join the group. They talk about Sophia’s swim meet and what John has been up to and Maine’s Black Flies versus Florida’s no see-ems. Ray explains D-Day to Sophia.
Segment 5: Ray plays a clip from Charles Norman Shay (a Penobscot tribal elder, writer, and decorated veteran of both World War II and the Korean War) as he describes his story on Omaha Beach. The discussion is about schools not teaching history, and lack of knowledge of civic activities such as the Pledge of Allegiance in classrooms, kids growing up with privilege, life in the Philippines, and more.
Segment 6: Ray plays another clip of Veterans describing D-Day. The panel talks about the lack of media coverage since 9/11.
Segment 7: Ray plays another clip from a Veteran’s story. Gunny Mike calls in to share some of the different stories of D-Day. They talk about the decline of social clubs and personal connections and more.
Segment 8: Ray plays another Vet’s story. They talk about Karen Gilles and her absence. They talk about poppies being sold by the lodge to raise money on Memorial Day. David brings up personal connections, block parties, and the choices that we make with our time.
Segment 9: Ray plays a clip of Guy Whidden sharing his story of surviving. Sean Spicer joins the fun and shares some of his thoughts on D-Day as a serving member of the armed forces. Segment 11: Ray plays more of the clip of Charles Norman Shay (a Penobscot tribal elder, writer, and decorated veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. John, David, Dee Dee, and Ray discuss the Indian tribes’ knowledge, the Wind Talkers, and more. The panel gets into a discussion about block parties and being nice. Cheryl calls in with a story of her father that participated in D-Day. Arthur Langley calls in and reminisces about a dear friend, Robert D. Grant.
Segment 12: They talk about all of the veterans that have served, but especially those that were there on D-Day. They also talk about John’s wife and Mother-in-law being part of the Penobscot Indian Tribe.
Segments 13-14: Ray, Dee Dee, and John discuss church, teaching history, and more.
Segment 15: Ray played another clip about why WWII was fought. He and John talk about the sacrifices that were made to protect America and Europe. He remembers Bud Thorne. They talk about Hitler and his personality which brings a conversation about Ma & Pa Barker and Ted Bundy. They take a call.
Segment 16: Ray and John talk about life’s circumstances and that is what makes us.
