Ray reads a headline for the Op-Ed page of the Portland Press. Someone put forth the idea that the voting age should be lowered to 16 years old. Ray states some of the history of why it is currently 18 years old and the irony of it not being 21 anymore. Think about what would happen in the schools if a 16 year old junior could vote for the school board….
04-09-18 The Search
Ray starts out with Tim Tebow coming to town for the Sea Dogs Home Opener. He heads to Eastpoint Church. He talks about the series that the Pastor Scott Taube started this last Sunday. He talks about the questions about whether or not this is what God want him to be doing. Ray talks about Evil and how it is really evident sometimes but sometimes it can be sneaky and underestimated. Ray addresses a text he received about gun rights. He explains his thoughts on gun rights and his faith. Ray also hits on President Trump calling out Russian President Vladimir Putin by name on Sunday for backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and warned of a “big price” after reports of a chemical weapons attack in Syria. He then reads an announcement that Florida Governor Rick Scott will be running for the US Senate.
04-09-18 Sen. Garrett Mason
Part 1: Garrett Mason, Gubernatorial Candidate and represents District 22 in the Senate, joins Ray by phone. Ray asks him about the looming deadline and will they get through everything. They give a shout out to Sen. Jeff Timberlake. Of course, Ranked Choice Voting is discussed. They talk about how do you campaign? How will this affect voter turnout? Garrett says that this is an experiment, but Ray says it is more than that. It is a temper tantrum. It is also a free speech issue. Ray gives an example of what he means. Ray goes back to having a public hearing on each bill. There was only one public hearing on a bill and it failed because people found out what was truly inside of it.
Part 2: Garrett and Ray talk about the Gubernatorial Debate that was held. Ray talks about the growth of the State’s General Fund and asks how do we stop this growth. Part 1: Ray reads a story about London Mayor Sadiq Khan callings for sharper knife control. He tweeted: “No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife. Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.” Ray heads to Greensboro, North Carolina and talks about Mark Robinson’s speech to City Council members. Robinson spoke during a public comment period in which several people shared thoughts on a gun and knife show slated for late summer at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Click here to see the video. Ray goes on to explain the slippery slope of blaming the guns and not the individual. They also talk about Former Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment, the constitutional right used to defend gun ownership.
