Good Morning from WLOB Radio’s The Ray Richardson Show. Ray starts in on the budget. Ray is very disappointed. He thought that the President was going to veto this bill. He then goes into the last time he took a vacation and compared it to the people in Washington. Ray never thought that Trump wasn’t a fiscal conservative, but Ray was hoping that he was going to shake things up more that he has. Ray also discusses Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer.
03-23-18 Media Balance
Part 1: Ray and Wayne talk about their frustration with the “media”. The lines of what it means to be media verses an editorial. They talk about Meet the Press and how Chuck Todd is so biased it is hard to watch compared to when Tim Russert was the host. They also talk the Portland Press Herald and the Bangor Daily News and Lance Dutson.
Part 2: Wayne would love to see the Governor freeze the budget and see what that would do for Maine’s economy. The education system just wants money without results.
Part 3: Ray and Wayne talk about the system and how it works. Rep. Rich Cebra calls in and lets us know that he is vigilant to defend our rights as the left tries to take them away. Wayne talks about how he feels bad for the old school Dems because the new Dems are so far left. They talk about how the Kennedy Democrats are more in standing with the Republicans than the modern day Republicans. They also talk about Bill Diamond. Tony calls in to join the Bill Diamond love fest….
Part 4: Ray reads a tweet from Pres. Trump that he might veto the bill when brought before him because it doesn’t have DACA and doesn’t fully fund the wall. They take a call…Wayne asks Ray what his thought are on the Democrat Gubernatorial race.
03-23-18 Chief Sauschuck & Shawn Moody
Part 1: Gubernatorial Candidate Shawn Moody and Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck joins Ray in studio to discuss some of the challenges that are facing them. They talk about hiring new employees. The Chief talks about how being a law enforcement officer is a calling, not just a job.
Part 2: Ray asks the Chief about the Portland Police Hiring Open House that will be occuring on Wednesday, April 4 at 5 PM – 7 PM at the Portland Police Department. Stop by and meet the Portland Police Department Recruitment team and learn what it takes to become a Portland Police officer! Contact recruitment officer Kate Phelan, 207-874-8568 if you have any questions about this event.
Part 3: Rep. Wayne Parry joins the panel in studio. The Chief explains the process of hiring new officers. Shawn asks the Chief about the school resource officer. The Chief talks about how relationships are so important. Ray brings up the opioid problems in Maine and how education is a big part of this problem. They talk about family and how all police are part of a greater “family and brotherhood”. The discussion also turns to taking care of the mental health of a policeman’s daily life on duty. They also talk about Joe Loughlin and his new book “Shots Fired: The Misunderstandings, Misconceptions, and Myths About Police Shootings”.
Part 4: Ray, Wayne and Shawn talk about some of the things that were discussed earlier.
03-23-18 Spending Bill
Part 1: Ray is losing his mind…the face that a Republican House and a Republican Senate voted to approved a $1.3 trillion ‘omnibus’ spending bill early Friday morning, avoiding a potential government shutdown. Ray digs into the bill about immigration, gun violence, gateway project, tax fix and Johnson Amendment. There is not anything in there about DACA, which is why they held out the first time this came on the floor.
Part 2: Ray talks about the left side and how they change “Kill Cops” and it seems to be okay to do that.
Part 3: Democrats are awful, but Republicans are worse. We need to clean house in Washington. “Absolute Power will be corrupted by power, absolutely.” Research what the fall of Rome was. It wasn’t an outside force, but from the enemy within. (Unfortunately, this was not recorded.)
Part 4: Ray answers a question about how do Republicans citizens support a Republican politician that doesn’t support the Republican ideals. Ray also discusses the Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Brakey challenging primary opponent Max Linn and the signature controversy.
