Part 1: Ray reads a statement from Dr. Drew. Dr. Drew Pinsky, a practicing physician and addiction expert, said on Thursday that the White House opioid summit gave him hope that the government is willing to put a stop to the opioid epidemic. The boys discuss how we need to have more closed door meetings to get to the bottom of issues. When everything is out in the media when we begin the discussions on hard topics, it becomes political before we can get a thought out. Somehow the discussion ends up with domestic violence, women’s rights, men’s rights and the nuclear family.
Part 2: Ray talks about the statistics of the shooters in our country. Most of them come from families without a father. Gordon talks about what has happened in his school district to keep the schools safe.
Part 3: Ray reads some of the text messages he is getting. Ray explains he point, once again. Tim Wilson explains his viewpoint. There is more than one way to raise children, but it does come back to having a steady home life. Tim says it goes back to the listening skills. Society has lost the ability to listen to the whole statement before knowing what their stance would be. Tim also describes his thoughts on school safety. We had a caller who says they talked about cluster schools in South Portland but it was decided that they would rather keep neighborhood schools.
03-09-18 Migration of the Youth
Part 1: Ray and Tim Wilson are joined by Gordon Draper in studio. The discussion in this segment starts with the migration of our youth. This was talked about in a Gov. Joshua Chamberlain speech back in the 1800s. We are still having the same discussion today. Cell phone and other technology infrastructure has to improve in order to keep our youth and draw other types of industry into our state. Tony Bessey calls in and expresses his opinion on the reason why there is no growth. They discuss about some of the different ideas of making Maine great again. Specialty schools are just an idea. We have some really smart people in Maine, we need to not be afraid of taping into some of this great knowledge.
Part 2: The subject continues on the youth and infrastructure. We have a frequent caller that rubs Tim the wrong way and Tim gets riled up and let him have it.
03-09-18 Poverty
Part 1: Ray starts the segment with a statistic about the poverty levels in the country. Surprise, Surprise, California is number one in poverty. Ray and Tim Wilson discuss poverty and how we start talking about prosperity vs poverty. Ray makes the statement that the youth are moving south.
Part 2: North versus South. Ray has gotten several messages saying that he doesn’t know what he is talking about. Ray states again that his remarks were bases on his observations. Tim talks his first job.
03-09-18 A Potpourri Segment
Part 1: Tim Wilson joins Ray and Debi this morning. They talk about so many things in this segment it was hard to keep up. A caller started the discussion on voting with a question on what is going in Central Maine. Somehow they end up talking immigration.
Part 2: Lewiston Mayor Shane Bouchard sent a letter to all of the new voters. Bouchard says the letter “describes the expectations of a voter following registration, was purely “informational,” was meant to clear up post-election confusion he saw on social media about state law. Tim talks about the voter fraud in Maine.
