Part 1: WSCH6’s Pat Callaghan joins us again on Thursday. Ray and Pat talk about the Beach Boys and The Beatles. they get into the Portland power struggle. The role of Mayor is seen differently by the city officials. Council doesn’t agree with the mayor on his right to appoint whoever he wants to be on the committees. This started because he wanted to be appointed the head of the financial committee. Then they head to Washington to talk about the tax reform bill. Maine saw the that Sen Susan Collins was able to get some concessions for Maine before it was passed and was given some promises of other things to come. She also has complained of being asked a sexist question about why she didn’t cry when she had protesters. Ray thinks that it was calculated to divert the media attention.
Part 2: The boys talk about music again. Ray played The Christmas Song by Paul McCartney feat. Diana Krall. Then talk about Mr. Holland’s Opus.
12-21-17 Callers
Part 1: The Tax Plan is discussed again…. This time with a caller. Yesterday’s vote was a good step in the right direction. We still need to get spending down, but we are at least looking in the right direction. Republicans need to get spending under control and not work just to stay in office.
Part 2: Caller Tony calls in and brings up the good point of “how are we going to pay for that tax cut”. The elected folks are always asking that question when it comes to tax cuts, but they never seem to ask how we as taxpayers are going to pay for the tax increases.
12-21-17 Australian Tragedy
Ray talks about the Australian tragedy in Melbourne. Police said at a news conference that they have arrested the driver and one other person after a white SUV plowed into a crowd of pedestrians, injuring at least 14 people and believe was “a deliberate act,” but that they do not know the motivation behind the attack. After the white Suzuki SUV crashed into a bollard, a steel safety post meant to insure pedestrian safety, police wrestled down and cuffed the driver. The incident comes at a time when vehicle-related terror attacks have been on the rise. Ray goes on to say that he doesn’t believe that there are 40 virgins waiting in heaven for the people that carry out these attacks.
12-21-17 Time of Giving
We start this segment off with a caller asking for people to dig a little deeper and give to whatever is your charity of choice. Salvation Army is down in the donations and there are many people that are in need this year. Unfortunately, he then starts to talk about Linda Sarsour, the Pro-Palestinian activist who helped spearhead the Women’s March in Washington. She has called for a Jihad in our country. Linda Sarsour told an employee who claimed she was sexually harassed that “something like that doesn’t happen to someone who looks like you,” the accuser told Fox News Wednesday night. Asmi Fathelbab also told “The Story with Martha MacCallum” that Sarsour warned her “that I will never work in New York City ever again for as long as she lives” if Fathelbab pressed her claims.
