Representatives for a Maine Toys R Us store say a husband and wife stopped in to pay off $10,000 in layaway orders for other families. WGME-TV reports the couple is local and desired to remain anonymous when making the payment at the South Portland store. Store manager Jay Roes says the money is enough to pay off the balance on about 100 layaway accounts. The gift will help make Christmas more affordable for dozens of families in the area. The total layaway balance at the store remains around $25,000. The secret Santa couple say they now want to match donations other people make toward the layaway accounts of strangers at Toys R Us.

Fox News Radio’s Jon Decker informs us that the U.S. Trump administration is mulling the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Trump informed Palestinian Pres Mahmoud Abbas yesterday that he intends to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, Abbas’s spokesman said. The statement did not say whether Trump elaborated on the timing of such a move. Meanwhile, Palestinian factions & militant groups are calling for a “day of rage” against that possible US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The call yesterday followed discussions in Gaza City.
