Part 1: Tracey Steuber join Ray in studio to talk about the Moxie Festival happening on July 14th. They talk about the attendance and the Sock Hop on Friday night, complete with a Best Costume Award. They talk about parade and Gina Mason. The parade has been renamed in her honor for all that she has done for the Festival, not to mention the community. Part 1: Ray and Bob are joined in studio by State Rep. Marty Grohman and Laura Allen of the Maine Bureau of Veteran’s Service. She is a Veteran Outreach Specialist. Ray takes a call from Janet Mills, who won the Democratic Nomination for Governor via Ranked Choice Voting to congratulate her. Laura explains what she does. Marty explains how he got to know Laura. Laura explains that you need to advocate for yourself, but she is here to help you muddle through the paperwork so that Veterans get all of the benefits they deserve. Everyone that has served is eligible for benefits and all Veterans should receive the benefits afforded to them.
Part 2: They discuss the suicide rate for Veterans and the program that is beginning to help with prevention. Marty also asks Laura about the employment opportunity with them. Maine’s Secretary of State Matt Dunlap joins Ray and Bob to discuss the results and process of ranked choice voting. Matt went through the process step by step from gathering the ballots to the final end result including some of the problems they encountered. Ray asks him about the trend of the rcv results mimicking the traditional results. Ray and Matt talk about the Maine’s Secretary of State Matt Dunlap. Ray gives Matt and his staff high praise for a difficult job well done.
